Starting in 2015, Ensinger was one of the first companies to supply PEEK filaments. This is not surprising, since our core competence has been high performance plastics for over 50 years.

Combining our knowledge in extrusion together with early stage grown experience in the processing of high temperature 3D printing materials we provide a large portfolio of high performance and therefore heat resistant filaments. Ensinger's TECAFIL portfolio profits from a free choice of the best suited raw materials for manufacturing high temperature filaments.

Heat resistant 3D filaments are steadily rising in demand for industrial applications to enable performance and durability. With additive manufacturing and the use of high temperature 3D printer filament, functional prototypes can be manufactured more efficiently. Even in small and large series production the printing of heat resistant filaments are replacing traditional processing techniques.

High temperature 3D printer filaments are characterised by elevated glass transition and melting temperatures, and are the best candidates when it comes to metal replacement or high material requirements. Their permanent service temperature is more than 150°C up to approx. 300°C depending on the operating conditions. Additionally, these materials can provide added value through superior properties such as sliding friction characteristics, weight saving and chemical resistance.

Heat resistant 3D printing filament can be further improved in its thermal properties by reinforcement with fibres as in glass or carbon fibers. This also includes enhancements in stiffness, heat distortion and dimensional stability. This means that in some cases thermal expansion rates can even get closer to those of metals. Especially carbon fiber reinforced high temperature 3D filament is currently in great demand e.g. in aerospace and medical, where a combination of extreme stiffness and low weight is required. Of course, heat resistant 3D printing filament is also frequently used in other industries such as automotive, mechanical engineering, semiconductor, biopharmaceutical etc.
