Kategorie: Engineering filament
With our longstanding experience in processing high temperature filaments Ensinger decided to manufacture engineering filaments to provide solutions through the whole range of high performance plastics.
Engineering filaments can be considered a category of thermoplastic filaments. Even though there is no official grouping, we distinguish between high-performance filaments (which are equivalent to heat resistant filaments, means highest continuous service temperature) and engineering filaments, which are in a medium to high temperature range even before standard plastics.
Our portfolio for engineering filaments includes:
- PA6 GF30 filament
- PA12 filament
- Unfilled POM filament
Why use industrial filaments?
In comparison to widely used standard plastics in 3D printing such as ABS, TPU or PLA, engineering filaments are chosen in case of higher requirements in mechanical strength, chemical resistance or dimensional stability, but are not as sophisticated as high temperature plastics. Ensinger thermoplastic filaments can be used permanently at temperatures between 100°C and 150°C. Therefore engineering filaments enable huge material benefits compared to standard plastics while can be printed mostly on desktop printers.
Especially our nylon filaments PA12 and PA6 GF30 suited perfect for your desktop printed industrial applications. If you print with standard plastics and want to add more performance to your components, for almost the same amount of costs try out our PETG filament. It combines huge material benefits in strength and chemical resistance over e.g. PLA or ABS while being perfect in printing behaviour on low processing printer parameters.
Ensinger's thermoplastic filaments are commonly known for a multitude of applications in a variety of industries such as automotive, mechanical engineering or food. In addition engineering plastics are mainly used for components in the electronics, aerospace and transportation industries.
In this new and ever-changing environment of 3D printing, we work in close co-operation with universities, research organisations and printer manufacturers to adapt our portfolio to the market requirements. Our experts will gladly help you find the most suitable filament for your application and printer.
